Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months. -Oscar Wilde

Pockets and Paintings #43

It’s my birthday today!  Soulive, (the band my husband is in), is playing at 5pm at the Fort Greene Park, so we will be there celebrating. Next up in my painting and outfit series is Jakub Julian Ziolkowski.  He is a very intriguing, and interesting young artist.  It is said that while he was attending a prestigious art school in Poland that he failed to show up for awhile, choosing instead to paint in solitude at home.  When he finally returned, his teachers were furious but could not deny the quality of the 40 paintings he had made while at home.  He was then given special permission to paint where he wanted.  He is a loner with a very active imagination.  He doesn’t use source materials like photos to come up with his images.  Instead he draws from his own brain, coming up with a cast of characters and other world places.  You can view more of his work here.  There is also a great article about him in the July issue of  W magazine, the one with Eva Mendes on the cover.  Have a great weekend!

Here is my safari inspired outfit inspired by Julian’s painting:
